A California sycamore was planted in 1987 by the Tree Musketeers, the nation's first nonprofit group run by children. Marcie has "published" her own biography, "writes" editorials for local newspapers, and is a contributor to the Tree Musketeers annual report. Since Marcie was planted, the sycamore has inspired children in Southern California and across the nation to plant trees as a response to pollution, resource depletion and conflict. The mission of the Tree Musketeers is to empower young people to be leaders of environmental and social change in the Earth's communities.
